Yes WE TALKER's today I attended Inside the Ropes Q&A session in London with the Icon Sting. Firstly, I have to say how it was awesome to see the Stinger looking healthy one again, he's not 100% yet but in his words he's 'feeling good', after the neck injury sustained at Night of Champions.
I also have to commend Inside the Ropes for the organisation, presentation and production of this event, everything went smoothly and was done in a professional manner. I would urge any of you who want to attend a Q&A session to look up Inside the Ropes in the future and I believe the team will be back in 2016, so be sure to keep an eye out :) Earlier in the day I was fortunate enough to be apart of the meet and greets in which I had a photo opportunity and a signing of my choice with Sting and this can be seen in a video on YouTube channel which will be uploaded later today ;)
Now, for bit you have all been waiting for, the Q&A! I am not going to give you every answer to every question but I will give you an idea of how the Q&A was carried out and the key answers which I took away from this event.
The questions were broken up into 4 sections:
Each section had a small video package which was nice as this refreshed not only the audience but Stings memory of all the accomplishments in his glittering career. The questions in the Surfer Sting section varied from him starting out prior to WCW in which he discussed his relationship with the late Ultimate Warrior to rivalries with the Dangerous Alliance and the nature boy Ric Flair.
The WCW Crow Sting section was where I got to ask my question, YES you are probably saying 'but Delzinski, you was meant to ask the hard hitting question about Stings current WWE run!' well yeah......but then I expected everyone wanted to ask that question and yes they did! So I decided to ask Sting about a rumour l heard regarding the nWos arrival at Bash at the Beach 1996. Now I am not sure where I heard this rumour but I am pretty sure Scott Hall has said this in the past. It has been said that the 3rd man was not always guaranteed to be Hogan, as Hogan could have potentially no showed the 1996 pay per view and if he had, Sting was the back up for the nWos third man!
YES! A HUGE question I know! an industry changer as we may never have had Hollywood Hogan and what would of become of Sting?!?
Other questions included, does the finish at Starcade 97 still play on his mind? Sting replied 'not really, I never knew who's idea it was to go down the controversial finish route' but in honesty he says 'it is what it is and I have never had a problem with it.'
Did Owen Harts rafter fall affect him in WCW. His answer was yes as he was due to come down from the rafters the very next night at a WCW Nitro show but could not go forward with it out of respect for Owen and it was only after speaking with Bret Hart and having the Hart families blessing that he resumed coming down from the rafters again.
TNA Sting - Now this was interesting and I did kinda wish I had saved my question for this section as I really had forgotten just how good Stings run was in TNA. TNA gave Sting an opportunity to evolve again with his time in the Main Event Mafia and the incarnation of Joker Sting, both point in which Sting metions were some of his favourite moments of his career.
WWE Sting - YES, the audience were salivating for this section! The majority wanted the Stinger to strike and tell us what we all wanted to hear that he should NOT have lost to Triple H at Wrestlemania 31! and his 0-2 record in the WWE was simply WRONG! But this was not the case, when the questions were asked, Sting once again had a very respectful and humble approach, he said 'I was just happy be at Wrestlemania and to go up against Triple H a guy from my generation, it was an absolute honour' the outcome of match to Sting is irrelevant, this was more about telling a story and having moments that fans will remember, the DX run in, the nWo, the ball bat breaking the sledge hammer giving that nostalgia of the Monday Night Wars, this was all much more important to Sting than putting tick in the win column.
After hearing him talk about the match in this way it has certainly opened my eyes, I mean if Sting doesn't mind the finish, then why should I! I should just be happy we got witness a fantastic match between two future Hall of Famers and appreciate the effort they put in to tell the story of wars in one historic match on grandest stage of them all.
I have closure.....at last ;)
Another question to note, bar the the Undertaker which current superstar would Sting like to be paired up against? Stings replied 'Bray Wyatt' - Sting is a fan of the old school gimmicks as it is how he was brought up in the industry. Wyatt vs Sting would certainly be a match I want to see!
And finally..... THE QUESTION! THE BIG ONE.... Wrestlemania 32, Sting vs The Undertaker will it happen?
Sting replied: 'I would love for it to happen and if by some miraculous way the doctors can patch me up in time then it could happen, its definitely the match I want'
So...... if Sting gets the all clear from the doctors it could finally happen but reading his body language I think this injury that Sting picked up at Night of Champions is not a simple one and it could be complicated which is why I still have my doubts. I want it to happen, I hope it does happen but I think we be saying Sting vs Taker is the match that never was!
